Egyptian Investment Funds Reach $9.3 Billion in Q2 2026
Net assets rose 14.7% as regulated investment funds added 15 new vehicles and investor participation reached a record high.
Egypt's regulated investment funds recorded net assets of approximately $9.3 billion (LE 470.9 billion) at the end of the second quarter of 2026, marking a 14.7% increase from the previous quarter, according to new figures released by the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA).
The regulator said the market expanded with the addition of 15 new investment funds under a revised classification framework developed in collaboration with the Egyptian Investment Management Association, bringing the total number of regulated funds to 224 by the end of June.
Total assets under management reached LE 479 billion (around $9.5 billion), up from LE 419.5 billion at the end of the first quarter. Assets denominated in Egyptian pounds accounted for LE 444.56 billion, while foreign currency-denominated assets totalled the equivalent of LE 26.41 billion (around $521.6 million).
Investor participation also climbed sharply, with the number of fund certificates rising to a record 44.04 billion by the end of June, compared with 31.42 billion three months earlier. Individual investors held 74.7% of all certificates, while institutional investors accounted for 24.3%, with the remaining 1% held by founding entities.
Among fund categories, sector funds delivered the strongest average return during the quarter at 18.82%, followed by thematic funds at 18.78%, index funds at 18.35%, equity funds at 17.45%, Islamic equity funds at 16.37%, and exchange-traded funds at 16.13%.
