Spain's Konecta Invests $100M in Its First Cairo AI Hub

Madrid-headquartered customer experience and business process outsourcing company Konecta has opened its Middle East and Africa headquarters in New Cairo as part of a $100 million investment plan, establishing the company's first global Centre of Excellence for generative AI.

The new hub will develop agentic AI tools, including Konecta's Kolibri orchestration platform, for deployment across the company's international operations. Based in Cairo, the centre will support clients across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas.

Konecta currently employs around 800 specialists in Egypt and plans to expand its local workforce to approximately 3,000 employees by the end of 2028. The Egypt operation provides AI-powered customer experience services, multilingual customer support in seven languages, data analytics, technical support and Internet of Things solutions.

"The growth of our team in Egypt reflects the depth of Egyptian talent and the confidence our global clients place in AI-powered digital customer experience delivered from Cairo," Ahmed El Harany, Vice Chairman of Konecta for the Middle East and Africa, said.

The facility was inaugurated by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and follows a memorandum of understanding signed in January 2025 between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Konecta to establish the company's operations and regional hub in Egypt. Konecta operates in 28 countries, delivering services in 40 languages.
