Supreme Council for Media Bans Circulation of Late Doctor Diaa El Awad
The decision cites public health risks and mandates monitoring, removal and legal action against violations.
A directive has been issued prohibiting the publication, broadcast, or circulation of any video, audio, or written material produced by or previously recorded for the late doctor Diaa El Awady.
The order was issued by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation and applies to all media outlets, press institutions, digital platforms, and social media pages operating under Law 180 of 2018.
The council stated that the decision followed official correspondence from the Ministry of Health and Population and the Egyptian Medical Syndicate, which raised concerns over the circulation of the doctor’s content.
According to the council, the material could pose risks to public health and contradict established medical standards. All entities subject to the law have been instructed to refrain from publishing or sharing such content.
The council assigned its General Administration for Monitoring to oversee implementation and document violations across media and digital platforms in preparation for legal action.
Content that breaches the directive will be referred to the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, which has been tasked with taking technical measures to halt its circulation and remove it from online platforms.
The council said it is coordinating with the Ministry of Health and the Egyptian Medical Syndicate to introduce new regulations governing doctors’ appearances across media channels.
The proposed framework is expected to set guidelines aligned with professional and media standards.
Citizens using social media were also urged to comply with the directive and avoid sharing or redistributing the prohibited material.
