Jazan Produces 60% of Saudi Arabia’s Mango Harvest
More than one million mango trees across Jazan produce over 65,000 tonnes annually.
Jazan produces approximately 60% of Saudi Arabia’s mango harvest, generating more than 65,000 tonnes annually from over one million trees across the region.
Cultivation is concentrated across governorates including Sabya and Abu Arish, where farms collectively produce more than 60 mango varieties.
Officials stated that mango cultivation has become one of the region’s most prominent agricultural sectors, reinforcing Jazan’s position as a hub for tropical fruit production within the Kingdom.
Advances in irrigation systems, fertilisation methods, and pest control have contributed to improvements in fruit quality and market competitiveness.
The region’s agricultural output is supported by Jazan’s climate and fertile soil conditions, alongside development programmes linked to Saudi Vision 2030 focused on sustainability and agricultural processing industries.
Jazan mangoes are currently exported across Gulf Cooperation Council markets as well as Jordan under health and packaging standards intended to strengthen product quality and branding.
Officials also aim to expand the region’s mango harvest season into an international tropical fruit exhibition designed to support agricultural tourism and investment opportunities.
In Sabya governorate, the annual mango harvest event has evolved into a wider economic platform incorporating marketing, manufacturing, logistics, and food processing activities linked to tropical fruit production.
The initiative includes packaging systems highlighting the visual identities of local farms to strengthen product origin recognition and consumer trust in local agricultural brands.
