Egypt’s Exports to China Rose 199.8% in First Half of 2026
Exports reached USD 840.8 million in the first half of 2026, while bilateral trade rose 21.5% to USD 11.3 billion.
Egyptian exports to China rose 199.8% year on year in the first half of 2026, reaching USD 840.8 million compared with USD 280.5 million during the same period in 2025, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
Imports from China increased by 14.3% over the same period to USD 10.4 billion, up from USD 9.1 billion a year earlier. Total bilateral trade reached USD 11.3 billion, representing annual growth of 21.5%.
Fuels, mineral oils and distillation products were the largest Egyptian export category to China, valued at USD 494 million. Vegetables and fruit followed at USD 150.6 million, while cotton and vegetable textile fibres accounted for USD 76.4 million.
Other major exports included natural calcium phosphates worth USD 31 million and organic and inorganic chemicals valued at USD 21 million.
On the import side, electrical and mechanical machinery and equipment accounted for USD 4.1 billion, followed by vehicles, tractors and bicycles at USD 1.2 billion.
Iron, steel and related products were valued at USD 930.7 million, while plastics and related products reached USD 524 million and organic and inorganic chemicals totalled USD 423.7 million.
Remittances from Egyptians working in China also increased to USD 23.3 million during the 2024/25 financial year, up from USD 19.5 million the previous year. Remittances from Chinese workers in Egypt rose from USD 3.1 million to USD 3.5 million over the same period.
Around 8,000 Egyptians were estimated to be living in China at the end of 2024, according to the Egyptian diplomatic mission.
