TikTok ranked most used at 30%, followed by Facebook at 24% and Instagram at 23%, according to Dar Al-Ifta's Global Fatwa Index.
Nearly two thirds of university students surveyed by Dar Al-Ifta spend at least three hours online each day, according to the institution's Global Fatwa Index.
The findings are based on a public opinion survey conducted in May 2026 among 229 students from the Faculty of Arts at Capital University.
Around 31% of respondents said they spend more than six hours online each day, while 36% reported using the internet for between three and six hours daily.
TikTok emerged as the most-used platform among respondents, accounting for 30% of preferences, followed by Facebook at 24% and Instagram at 23%.
The survey found that official pages and accounts belonging to religious institutions are the primary source of religious information for around two thirds of participants.
While most respondents said they had not encountered unclear or inaccurate fatwas, 38% reported that they had. When faced with conflicting religious opinions, most said they verify information by consulting multiple trusted sources.
