TikTok Removes 3.6 Million Videos in Egypt in First Quarter of 2026

TikTok removed 3,612,773 videos in Egypt during the first quarter of 2026, up nearly 52% from 2,380,226 in the previous quarter, according to the platform’s latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report.

Egypt recorded the second-highest number of removals among eight Middle East and North Africa markets covered in the report, behind Iraq and ahead of Saudi Arabia. Across the eight markets, TikTok removed more than 15.5 million videos during the quarter.

TikTok said 99.6% of videos removed in Egypt were detected before users reported them, while 93.6% were taken down within 24 hours. The platform also restored 146,417 videos following successful appeals, up 33.2% from the previous quarter.

Enforcement against livestreaming also increased. TikTok banned 151,630 LIVE hosts in Egypt and interrupted 769,200 livestreams, more than double the 357,652 interrupted in the preceding quarter.

The figures come as Egyptian authorities and TikTok continue discussions around online child protection, including age verification, parental controls and safeguards against inappropriate content. Egyptian authorities are also considering tighter social-media regulation amid concerns around misinformation, manipulated content, online abuse and material considered harmful to children.

Globally, TikTok said it removed more than 86 million fake accounts and 25.7 million accounts suspected of belonging to users under 13 during the first quarter, while also expanding tools for detecting and labelling synthetic or substantially modified content.
