RTA to Pilot Nol Jaywan Payment Card in November
The new card will combine public transport fares with Jaywan digital payments across everyday services.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority will begin piloting the new Nol Jaywan card in November 2026, allowing commuters to use a single card for public transport fares and wider digital payments.
The authority signed an agreement with Al Etihad Payments, a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE, to introduce the cards in phases. The initial trial will cover RTA public transport services, including taxis and public parking.
Nol Jaywan combines the existing Nol transport system with Jaywan, the UAE’s national card payment scheme for everyday purchases, online transactions and other services. Jaywan card issuance began nationwide through banks and licensed financial institutions in July 2026.
Cardholders will be able to use Nol functions for travel while accessing Jaywan payment services, with digital activation and management available on Android and iOS smartphones. The cards are also intended to support public and private transport services and online transport booking platforms across the UAE.
More than 120 promotional offers and discounts will be available to cardholders. The project forms part of RTA’s wider transition of the Nol system to account-based ticketing, which is designed to connect transport services and expand payment options.
Al Etihad Payments developed Jaywan with NPCI International Payments Limited using technology from India’s RuPay system. Acceptance has expanded since its rollout, with Etihad Airways adding Jaywan for online bookings in August and Emirates following in September.
