Egyptian Embassy in London Receives 3,900-Year-Old Artefact
Ambassador Ashraf Sweilam said the recovery reflects cooperation to safeguard cultural property and that returning Egyptian antiquities remains a state priority.
The Egyptian Embassy in London has received a 3,900-year-old ancient Egyptian artefact, a carved wall relief dating back to the Middle Kingdom, ahead of its return to Egypt.
The embassy confirmed that the artefact was handed over in London as part of ongoing efforts to recover Egyptian antiquities from abroad and protect the country’s cultural heritage.
Egypt’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ashraf Sweilam, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation that facilitated the handover, saying it reflects international recognition of the value of Egypt’s cultural heritage and the importance of preserving artefacts and returning them to their country of origin.
He added that recovering Egyptian antiquities remains a state priority, emphasising the role of international cooperation in protecting cultural property and facilitating the repatriation of artefacts
