Saudi Wildlife Projects to Add Safari & Birdwatching Sites
New ecotourism projects in Saudi Arabia include safari destinations and birdwatching areas across protected reserves.
A new package of ecotourism projects aimed at expanding access to wildlife and biodiversity experiences across Saudi Arabia has been unveiled by the National Center for Wildlife.
The projects include the development of safari destinations in Taif and Thadiq, alongside the designation of birdwatching areas within protected reserves and national parks across several regions of the Kingdom.
According to the National Center for Wildlife, the initiative is intended to support ecotourism while creating more opportunities for visitors to explore wildlife habitats and biodiversity sites throughout Saudi Arabia.
The projects are set to be distributed across multiple regions and located within reserves and national parks overseen as part of the Kingdom’s environmental and conservation efforts.
The update was issued in Riyadh on May 24th, 2026, outlining Taif and Thadiq as key locations identified for safari development.
Plans for birdwatching zones were also announced for protected natural areas across different parts of the Kingdom as part of broader efforts to expand nature-based tourism experiences.
