Full Transport Network Activated Across Saudi Arabia for Hajj 2026

A full-scale transport and logistics plan has been activated across Saudi Arabia ahead of the 1447 Hajj season, with operations centred on six major airports and more than 22,000 personnel.

The framework, outlined by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, integrates air, land, rail and maritime services to manage the movement of pilgrims arriving from within the Kingdom and abroad.

More than 3.1 million seats have been allocated across over 12,000 scheduled and charter flights. New measures include a baggage-free traveller service, enabling luggage collection directly from accommodation, alongside expanded pre-shipment of Zamzam water.

National carriers Saudia and flynas have increased capacity, with Saudia offering more than one million seats and flynas planning to carry hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from over 20 international destinations

Rail services are set to support movement between key sites. Saudi Arabia Railways has scheduled more than 2,000 Mashair train trips, expected to carry over two million passengers between Mina, Muzdalifah and Arafat.

The Haramain High-Speed Railway will operate 5,308 services with capacity exceeding 2.2 million seats, linking Mecca and Medina via King Abdulaziz International Airport.

Road infrastructure has undergone extensive preparation, including the clearance of more than 56 million cubic metres of sand, maintenance of 178,000 lighting units and installation of over 4,000 directional and warning signs.

Public transport capacity has been reinforced with more than 33,000 buses and 5,000 taxis, alongside intensified safety inspections.

Logistics and postal operations have also been expanded, with Saudi Post deploying additional vehicles, including electric scooters and motorbikes, to support high-density areas.

At sea, facilities at Jeddah Islamic Port have been prepared to receive pilgrims, with dedicated teams working to streamline procedures.
