EgyptAir Opens First Sensory Support Room at Cairo Airport
Located in Terminal 3’s departure hall, the room serves passengers with non-visible disabilities and their companions.
EgyptAir has opened a dedicated sensory support room at Cairo International Airport to assist passengers with non-visible disabilities and their companions.
Located in the departure hall of Terminal 3 opposite Gate 4, the room is designed as a calm environment that reduces sensory overstimulation, helping ease stress and anxiety before travel.
It is intended for individuals with conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, learning difficulties and heightened sensitivity to sound or light.
The service includes a dedicated support team from the airline’s public relations department, who receive passengers at the airport entrance, escort them to the room and assist with check-in and boarding procedures through to the aircraft gate.
Passengers are required to register in advance by sharing flight details, contact information and arrival time at least 48 hours before departure, allowing the airline to coordinate support throughout the airport journey.
The initiative forms part of efforts to improve accessibility and passenger experience within Egypt’s aviation sector, with the facility integrated into Terminal 3 to support travellers from arrival through to departure.
The airline said the room is structured to provide a controlled, low-stimulation setting, aligning with broader goals to enhance inclusive travel services and support passengers with diverse needs.
