Arab Reading Challenge Winner Named Cairo Book Fair Ambassador

Arab Reading Challenge winner Mayar Mohamed Ragab Othman Othman El Shorbagy has been named Reading Ambassador for the 58th Cairo International Book Fair.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and acting Minister of Culture Abdelaziz Konsowa said the fair will host a dedicated session for Mayar to speak about her reading journey and experience in the competition.

Mayar is a sixth-grade student at Martyr Hamdi Sharabi Primary School in Kafr El Sheikh’s Borg El Burullus educational administration. She won the tenth season of the Arab Reading Challenge for the 2025/2026 academic year after competing among more than 40 million students from 60 countries.

Konsowa added that the Ministry of Culture will coordinate with Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif to provide Mayar’s school with a complete library of publications from institutions affiliated with the culture sector.

The two ministries will also work on an ongoing programme to support Mayar’s talent and create opportunities to present student publications and creative work during the next edition of the book fair.

Martyr Mahmoud El Maghraby Primary School in Kafr El Sheikh also placed second in the Best School category during the tenth season of the Arab Reading Challenge.
