‘The Lament of Spice Island’ to Premiere at Interfilm Berlin

Egyptian-Sudanese-Tanzanian short film ‘The Lament of Spice Island’ will have its world premiere at the 42nd Interfilm Berlin, where it has been selected for the festival’s International Competition.

Directed by Ahmed Samir, the film is the only Egyptian title competing in the International Competition this year. Interfilm Berlin is an Academy Award-qualifying short film festival, with this year’s edition taking place from November 10th to 15th in Berlin.

‘The Lament of Spice Island’ stars Ahmed Samir and Mahmoud Shendy and is produced by Amjad Abu Alala, Naji Ismail and Aya Youssef.

The film’s creative team also includes director of photography Nohad Nour, composer Khaled Al Kammar and editor Heba Othman.

The international co-production brings together Egyptian, Sudanese and Tanzanian involvement, with its Berlin screening marking the film’s first public festival appearance.
