The Luxor African Film Festival will honour Egyptian actor Khaled El Sawy as part of its 15th edition, set to take place in Luxor from March 29th to April 4th, 2026.
El Sawy is widely regarded as one of Egypt’s most versatile contemporary actors, with a career spanning film, television and theatre.
He gained prominence through performances in politically and socially driven works, including roles in films such as ‘El-Fil El-Azraq’, ‘The Yacoubian Building’ and ‘Tito’, as well as a range of television dramas that have explored complex psychological and societal themes.
Founded in 2012, the Luxor African Film Festival focuses on African cinema and aims to strengthen cultural exchange between Egypt and the rest of the continent.
Held annually in the historic city of Luxor, the festival presents feature films, documentaries and short films from across Africa, alongside tributes, workshops and industry panels.
Over the years, it has positioned itself as a platform for both established filmmakers and emerging voices, with a programme that highlights cinematic dialogue across African countries.
