Four AI Platforms Approved for Use in UAE Schools
The Ministry of Education authorises ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini and Claude for classroom use under new guidance.
Four generative artificial intelligence platforms have been formally approved for use in schools across the UAE under new guidance issued by the Ministry of Education.
In an annex to its ‘Safe and Responsible Use of Generative AI in Classrooms’ guide, the ministry listed OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft’s Copilot, Google’s Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude as authorised tools for learning and teaching. The platforms are based on large language models and are widely used for understanding and generating natural language.
The guidance outlines conditions for their use, stating that schools and educators must not rely solely on AI-generated outputs and should ensure human review of all content. Students are required to verify the accuracy of information, cite sources where appropriate and adhere to principles of academic integrity.
According to the ministry, the framework is designed to enable controlled classroom use of generative AI within defined ethical and regulatory boundaries in order to safeguard students and maintain academic standards.
The approved tools may be used to support classroom activities, including research, analytical and problem-solving tasks. The ministry said they can also assist teachers in designing more interactive and personalised learning experiences, while emphasising that the platforms are intended to complement rather than replace traditional teaching methods.
