RTA Launches City-Wide Community Programme for Ramadan
The initiative spans meal distribution, family support and Eid provisions for students across Dubai.
A Ramadan community programme has been launched across Dubai by the Roads and Transport Authority under the theme ‘Family is where we belong’, covering meal distribution, family support initiatives, citywide activations and Eid provisions for students.
The programme targets underprivileged families, orphans and frontline transport workers, including commuters, taxi and bus drivers, delivery riders, as well as metro and marine transport staff across the emirate.
Feeding initiatives include ‘Meals on Wheels’, through which 8,000 meals will be prepared and distributed to workers at the authority’s headquarters and at Quranic Park, with participation from employees and volunteers. A parallel Iftar Meal Distribution at Metro Stations, organised in collaboration with Keolis MHI, DAMAC Properties and Noon, will provide meals to heavy vehicle operators, bus and taxi drivers and other workers across the city, alongside awareness messaging. The initiatives involve partnerships with government and private entities as well as charitable organisations, with staff volunteers supporting on-ground delivery.
Timed with Zayed Humanitarian Day, the Ramadan Rations initiative will distribute 500 nol cards to eligible families. Some cards will be delivered directly to beneficiaries’ homes by the authority, while the remainder will be provided through a cooperative society working with Beit Al Khair Society. The outreach combines financial support with direct engagement with households identified for assistance.
Citywide activations include the display of the Ramadan in Dubai logo on variable message signs as part of the Season of Wulfa, as well as a decorated abra parade along Dubai’s waterways. An appreciation campaign titled ‘Thank You, RTA Heroes’ invites members of the public to post messages recognising frontline workers and customer service teams, including bus drivers, delivery riders, metro staff and marine transport personnel. Selected participants will receive nol cards and shopping vouchers.
As Ramadan concludes, the Eid Joy initiative, organised in collaboration with Dar Al Hay Gents Tailoring and Al Ahliah Charity Schools, will provide students with essential clothing and Eidiya cash gifts to support Eid Al Fitr celebrations.
