Awqaf Abu Dhabi Contributes AED 100 Million to Orphan Endowment

The Endowments and Minors’ Funds Authority – Awqaf Abu Dhabi has contributed AED 100 million to support the Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans in the UAE, reinforcing the initiative’s funding base for long-term orphan care.
Launched under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the endowment is structured as a sustainable funding model in which donations are invested and the returns generated are directed towards supporting orphaned children. The initiative began on February 18th, 2026, with the aim of converting one-time contributions into continuous financial support.
According to Awqaf Abu Dhabi, investment returns from the fund will be channelled towards essential needs including school tuition and supplies, healthcare and medication, living expenses and seasonal requirements. The model is designed to ensure ongoing care through a structured endowment approach rather than short-term aid.
The initiative also seeks to expand community participation in endowments as a tool for social support. Public activities in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are being organised to raise awareness and direct proceeds and sponsorships into the fund.
The endowment draws its name and inspiration from Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation. Its launch during the Year of Family underscores the focus on comprehensive and sustainable care for orphaned children across the country.
