SELECTS: Model Romy Nassar Styles Her Maximalist Vintage Collection

Lebanese model and founder of vintage reseller Romyn approaches style with a playful instinct and a fascination for archive jewellery. Splitting her time between New York and Toronto, she exists in a constant state of visual research. Her wardrobe pulls from folklore, cinema, Mediterranean memory, and a deep emotional connection to objects that feel discovered rather than bought.

From a handmade dragon brooch crowned in crimson feathers to tassel pearl earrings and baroque cuffs, In this edition of SELECTS Nassar looks back at some of her favorite outfits unpacking how she styles her vintage jewelry, builds around statement pieces, and injects every look with what she calls “that Romy touch.”

As a model you're constantly wearing different brands and styles on shoots, how has that influenced your personal style?

Shoots have been incredibly formative for my eye. They’ve introduced me to designers and brands I might never have discovered otherwise. My phone is full of photos of outfit tags and that’s one of my favorite parts. Sometimes, when I really connect with a look, I’ll even buy it directly from the stylist when possible.

Working with so many talented stylists has sharpened my visual sensitivity. They take unexpected elements, mix unpredicted pieces, add details you wouldn’t think belong, and transform them into something entirely new. Even when they dress me in something I wouldn’t personally wear, or wouldn’t have imagined wearing, I still learn from their choices. Over time, my eye has evolved. I’ve developed a much deeper understanding of silhouette, balance, and intention.

So while my personal style isn’t always expressed on set, the experience has undeniably refined how I see fashion, and encouraged me to be bolder and way more adventurous and daring with the way I style my looks.

What's your secret for finding vintage jewelry? What makes it a piece that you want to keep?
There is no secret! I just invest so much time into it. Hours. I take the hunt super seriously.
The pieces I picked for this style edit are the ones I truly feel are unique and rare. I am looking for pieces that you can’t find anywhere else. So I spend hours and hours browsing. It is time consuming. But I am patient and the hunting is my fav part!

I want to keep a piece that has something .. i dont know how to explain.. something divine. Sometimes I see a piece and I feel like it was hand painted by God. And that’s what I look for.

Are there specific designers, eras, or cultural influences that you draw inspiration from? Any current obsessions?
I’m less inspired by a specific era and more by mythology, folklore, and the way culture lives through the hand. Greek mythology has always been a deep reference for me - nature, gods, transformation, femininity, devotion. Music is part of that world too; artists like Demis Roussos carry an emotional, almost mythic quality that really resonates with me. His Kaftans and his songs are like one.

Pavarotti as well with his layered Hermes Scarves and look that feels like summer. I also think the older you get, the more your body remembers your roots. Mine remembers the sea, the Mediterranean. So my heart gravitates towards that.

I’m really drawn to folkloric things, especially Kazakh clothing. I love when clothes feel almost ceremonial, like they carry a history or a soul. My all time fav show is Kenzo Spring 2011. I love the richness and the feel of things .. it’s that seeing something without touching it… but yet you know how rich it is. It is the same as contemplating nature. I’m also very inspired by cinema, particularly Federico Fellini’s 1970s era.. the sensuality, excess, humanity, and dreamlike quality of that time. And the thing about Fellini is that he built a universe. So when fashion can mirror that… It's ultimate.

When putting together a look, do you start with one statement piece or build the outfit more intuitively?
It’s not really systematic. It depends on the mood. But I feel like I do start with a statement piece first. Whether it's a belt or a massive necklace or anything really.. a bag or a shoe… or even a colour… I feel like I really want to wear that today.. so it becomes the starting point and the rest follows by intuition and mood.

I want my Romy elements when I dress up and I feel that comes naturally. At the end of the day, I'm moody and I have so many different styles in my closet yet still there is always that Romy touch.
