Photo of the Week: Fahad Obaidallah

Saudi photographer Fahad Obaidallah has been photographing landscapes and food, finding stories in the places and moments around him.

In this edition of ‘Photo of the Week’, Obaidallah selected an image taken in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, featuring a man in prayer with light coming through the windows. “It carries real meaning for me as it was the first photo I ever took with the intention of telling a story.”

The scene caught Obaidallah’s attention in the moment, with the quietness of the space and the light coming through the windows giving him a chance to step away from everything around him and reflect.

“I chose this photo because it is close to my heart. There are moments when stepping away from everything around us gives us the space to reflect and find a sense of peace. The silence of the place and the light coming through the windows made me think about how, sometimes, the closest path to comfort is the one that leads you back to God.”

Six years into photographing the world around him, Obaidallah still sees this image as a moment that stayed with him, both for what he saw and what it came to mean. “Some moments are more than just images - they become memories, emotions, and stories that stay with us forever.”
