Egyptian Tennis Star Mayar Sherif on Breaking Records & Chasing Top 10

Mayar Sherif looks back on her journey in tennis, from playing tennis and badminton as a child to making the decision to pursue the sport professionally.
Sherif recalls returning to tennis seriously during her third year of university, after seeing players she had once beaten as a child climb into the world’s top rankings. With her coach’s support, she decided to give herself one final chance, setting the course for her professional career.
Since then, Sherif has ticked several goals off her list, from qualifying for the Olympics and playing in the main draw of a Grand Slam to becoming the highest-ranked Egyptian tennis player in the world. Her biggest remaining goal? Winning Roland Garros.
Mayar also opens up about injuries, sacrifices and the importance of having the right team around you, while setting her sights on breaking into the Top 15, or even Top 10, in the years ahead.
