Ebaa Monther, El Morabba3 & Yas Meen Selectress to Perform AL.Festival

A leading platform that has put the spotlight on the SWANA region since 2019, the cultural extravaganza that is AL.Berlin’s AL.Festival is set to return starting October 2nd with an eclectic programme of film screenings, workshops, panel discussions and, of course, music.

On October 11th at Berlin’s Festsaal Kreuzberg, a host of artists are set to take to the stage. Some of the highlight names include Jordanian rock band El Morabba3, Syrian rapper and singer Ebaa Monther, Saudi rapper Saudi rapper Asayel, and Jordanian singer Zaid Khaled. 

The likes of Abosahar, Abu Muhammad, AMMAR 808, Aïchoucha, OMAR KTD, Seera, and Zeina Aftimos will all be delivering live performances, while the rest of the lineup welcomes several DJ sets courtesy of Yas Meen Selectress, Nurah Farahat, Paulawar, LIONESSA, AAMIROO, Alias Shay, NaN, Katscha,, Shiru, Stratos and Taradod.

With doors opening at 4 PM and the music set to go long into the night, the concert is a testament to the number of increasingly eclectic musical voices emerging out of the SWANA region and its diaspora, not least in Berlin. Described as a “celebration of resistance and presence in a time and place where our joy and existence are too often treated as a threat,” AL.Festival is arguably the most impactful manifestation of AL.Berlin’s mission. At the core of the collective’s ethos, the ideas of ‘home’ and national identity are reimagined beyond something static, into something that is carried and shared. 

AL.Festival hasn't been conceived simply as a series of events, but a space to showcase, celebrate and exchange ideas.
