ver 50 Million Vaccine Doses Administered Across Egypt in 2025
The national immunisation programme targets 10 diseases, with Egypt remaining polio-free since 2006.
More than 50 million vaccine and serum doses were administered in Egypt in 2025 under a national immunisation programme targeting 10 major diseases, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
The programme is designed to maintain protection against major epidemics through a preventive approach that ensures vaccines are delivered widely, with a focus on equitable access for children across the country. Health indicators show continued disease control.
Egypt has remained free of polio since 2006, while elimination of measles and rubella has been sustained for the third consecutive year, as endorsed by a regional committee in December 2025.
Hepatitis B is also reported to be under control, with Egypt receiving certification for meeting regional targets.
The immunisation system aims to maintain coverage rates of at least 95%, supported by epidemiological surveillance and expanded logistics.
Vaccine storage facilities across all governorates have been accredited by the Egyptian Drug Authority to ensure quality standards across supply chains and cold storage systems.
Of the total doses administered in 2024, around 33.2 million were routine vaccinations and 11.8 million were delivered to school students. Additional doses included rabies and influenza vaccines, as well as therapeutic sera.
Surveillance efforts include testing more than 6,800 environmental and human samples annually to monitor targeted diseases and detect potential risks.
The ministry also highlighted the expansion of digital systems, including digitised immunisation sessions and approximately 18 million text message reminders sent to guardians. Vaccination services for bite cases have been digitised across 345 centres, while more than 250,000 doses were provided free to arrivals.
The programme received regional recognition in 2025, securing first place in the Best Arab Initiative category at the Arab Government Excellence Award for its digitisation of the universal immunisation system.
