Saudi Arabia & Kenya Sign New Domestic Workers Agreement
A new agreement aims to regulate the recruitment of domestic workers from Kenya while protecting workers and employers.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has signed a new agreement with Kenya's Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to regulate the recruitment of domestic workers from Kenya to Saudi Arabia through official channels.
Signed in Riyadh during the first meeting of the Saudi-Kenyan Political Consultations Committee, the agreement establishes measures to ensure the regular recruitment of domestic workers while protecting the rights of both employers and workers. It also aims to organise the contractual relationship between the two parties and strengthen cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Kenya in the field of domestic labour recruitment.
The agreement was signed by Dr Abdullah bin Nasser Abuthnain, Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labour, and Dr Alfred Nganga Mutua, Kenya's Minister of Labour and Social Protection. The signing ceremony was attended by Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Dr Musalia Mudavadi, Kenya's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
