Korba’s Ibrahim Pasha Street to Become Pedestrian Corridor
Work has begun on an EGP 20 million upgrade of Ibrahim Pasha Street in Korba, including pedestrianisation, bicycle lanes, greenery and restored building facades.
Work has begun on the redevelopment of Ibrahim Pasha Street in Korba, Heliopolis, with around 300 metres set to be converted into a pedestrianised corridor as part of an EGP 20 million upgrade.
The project includes the renewal of electricity, gas, water and telecommunications networks, alongside new paving, planting, lighting columns and public seating.
Plans also cover the development of 13 building facades, wider pavements, dedicated bicycle lanes and additional green areas. An open area for restaurants will also be created as part of the streetscape changes.
The works are intended to preserve Korba’s architectural character while improving infrastructure and public space at street level. Implementation is being coordinated between the Ministry of Local Development and Environment, Cairo Governorate and other relevant agencies.
A previous phase of the project saw the facades of 64 shops refurbished through community participation.
Completion and the public opening of the upgraded street are scheduled for the New Year 2027 celebrations.
