Domestic Workers Can Now Renew Saudi Residency Every Three Months

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Passports, has introduced more flexible residency permit options for domestic workers, allowing employers to issue and renew permits in increments of three months through the Absher platform.

The service was launched by the General Directorate of Passports, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and the Musaned platform. Employers can now choose permit durations of 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 or 24 months for both new residency permits and renewals covering domestic workers and similar employment categories.

Under the updated system, residency fees are calculated according to the selected permit period rather than requiring payment for a full year or two years. Employers opting for shorter durations can pay fees on a quarterly basis or for any multiple of three months.

Previously, residency permits for domestic workers could only be renewed for one or two years at a time. The new structure is intended to provide greater flexibility in managing employers' financial commitments while accommodating different employment needs.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance residency-related services, expand digital government offerings and streamline administrative procedures as Saudi Arabia continues its digital transformation.
