Digital Visa-on-Arrival System Launching at Cairo Airport
The upcoming system replaces paper visa stickers with digital applications, electronic payments, and QR code entry validation.
A new digital visa-on-arrival system is scheduled to launch at Cairo International Airport in August, replacing the current paper sticker process with a QR code-based entry system for eligible travellers. Instead of queuing for cash payments and stamps, eligible travellers will be able to enter their details through airport kiosks, a dedicated app, or an official website before or after landing. Once fees are paid electronically, a QR code is issued and scanned at immigration to validate entry. The system is part of a wider push to modernise airport procedures and ease congestion, with officials framing it as a step toward a smoother, more intuitive arrival experience for visitors. It will launch at Cairo International Airport first, before expanding to airports across the country.
