Abu Dhabi to Deploy AI System to Detect Risks in Hazardous Materials

The Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Presight to develop and test agentic AI systems for monitoring and managing hazardous materials across the emirate.

The planned system will analyse data from multiple sources on an ongoing basis, identify risk indicators and unusual patterns, and support specialist teams in deciding when and how to respond.

The partnership will explore applications across the full hazardous-materials lifecycle, including entry, transportation, storage, trading, use, treatment, recycling and safe disposal.

Initial work will focus on identifying priority use cases, developing prototypes and testing them in controlled operational environments. The two sides will measure performance through indicators including detection speed, alert accuracy, response times, decision quality, automation levels and operational efficiency.

The aim is to shorten the gap between detecting a potential risk, analysing it and taking action.

The collaboration will also cover AI governance, cybersecurity, data privacy and sovereignty, interoperability and human oversight, reflecting the public-safety implications of deploying autonomous or semi-autonomous systems in hazardous-material management.
