Abu Dhabi Cuts E311 Speed Limit to 100km/h From September 14th

The speed limit on part of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Street (E311) in Abu Dhabi will be reduced to 100km/h in both directions from September 14th, down from 120km/h.

Abu Dhabi Mobility said the change applies to the stretch between the At Turoush Street and Tawi Al Qaymah Street junctions on one end and the Al Khayr Street interchange on the other, affecting traffic travelling towards both Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The section runs between Al Shamkhah to the north and Madinat Al Riyad and Baniyas Cemetery to the south. E311 is also known as Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Dubai and several other emirates.

The change follows a series of speed-limit adjustments across Abu Dhabi. In April 2025, the 120km/h minimum speed on E311 was removed, allowing motorists to travel below the previous minimum.

Further reductions were introduced in February 2026 on Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Road (E22) and Al Rawdah Road (E30), while a variable speed-limit system was introduced on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street in October 2025 to adjust speeds according to congestion, incidents, roadworks and weather.
