Parkin Allows You to Pay for Parking With a Latte Starting May 1st
Their new scheme, 'Spots for Shops', lets you park near a participating business, spend a bit of money there, and get cashback on your parking.
Starting next month, drivers in Dubai can effectively park for free, provided they're willing to buy something first – even if it's just a matcha latte. Parkin, the city's largest public parking operator, has launched a scheme called 'Spots for Shops'. How it works is that when you park near a participating small business, you can spend a bit of money there, and get cashback on your parking through the Parkin app. That flat white you were already planning on buying? It just covered your parking spot. The initiative kicks off on Friday May 1st, initially rolling out across Deira, Al Karama and Satwa. The first batch of participating businesses includes Al Embratoor, Beirut Blendz, Cycle 2 Cycle, Damyati Plus, Naif Baker, Ravi Restaurant, San Diego Key Cutting, Soam Vegetarian, and The Laundry Hub. It's an eclectic mix – laundry, bike repairs, key cutting, Indian vegetarian, Lebanese coffee – spots that make a neighbourhood feel like a neighbourhood. Parkin is inviting more small businesses across Dubai to sign up, allowing them to benefit off of paid public parking spots that larger retail destinations with dedicated multi-storey car parks don't have to rely on.
