Athlo Lands in Dubai Turning Ghosted Gym Sessions Into Cash

After late-night doom scrolling down the rabbit hole of healthy recipes and fitness influences, we have found ourselves signing up for a shiny new gym membership, swore we’ll go “at least three times a week,” and then… don’t? Well, now we can collectively stop pretending those ghosted spin classes never happened — and actually make some cash back.

Athlo, a London-born app sometimes called “the Airbnb of fitness,” has landed in Dubai, and it’s here to rescue both your wallet and your guilty conscience. If you’ve got unused gym classes or memberships collecting digital dust, you can sell them to someone who will show up. When your class sells, you get 60% of the value back, the gym pockets 15%, and Athlo takes 25% for playing matchmaker. Everyone wins, except your excuses.

Founded by former rugby player turned finance escapee Matthew Mansell, Athlo has already been quietly live in the UAE since July and has signed up over 5,000 users. You can book a class as little as 30 minutes before it starts — perfect for those awkward gaps between back-to-back meetings or brunch plans.

The platform isn’t stopping at fitness classes either. Soon, you’ll be able to book paddle, tennis, and even golf sessions through the app, making it a one-stop shop for anyone trying to sweat it out, or at least look like they do on Instagram.
