Toronto-based platform, Off The Record, has announced the launch of ‘Aswat’, a month-long residency at the Ace Hotel in celebration of Arab Heritage Month.
Running throughout April, the series features a curated lineup of DJs and selectors from Toronto, Montreal, and New York, to highlight the sounds of the Arab diaspora, including residents from the likes of New York’s The Lot Radio and online platform, Radio Flouka.
According to Off the Records, the programming is designed for ‘the curious’, with each artist tasked with providing a journey of discovery. Performances will take place across two different venues within the hotel, the lobby and Evangillien, with every performance for the former starting at 7.30PM and the latter at 10PM.
Aswat will kick off on April 4th with Narcy and Shen, before April 10th welcomes SawiFromSpace. The residency continues on April 11th with Cheba Iman, followed by BootyCornDed on April 17th and Sabrout on April 18th. The month-long celebration concludes with Maria Taifour on April 24th and a final performance by Kimo on April 25th.
