UAE Launches Advanced Digital System to Control Prices at 627 Outlets
The ministry stated that it is actively tracking stock levels through an advanced electronic price-monitoring system.
The UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism has moved to reinforce its market oversight infrastructure amid escalating regional tensions, activating an electronic price monitoring system now linked to 627 major retail outlets, covering more than 90 percent of domestic trade in essential consumer goods across the seven emirates.
The ministry stated that it is actively tracking stock levels through an advanced electronic price-monitoring system that collects and analyses real-time data from suppliers and retailers, supported by comprehensive periodic assessments and daily communication with distributors to prevent potential shortages and ensure price stability. These measures allow the government to monitor actual prices across various locations simultaneously, facilitating swift action against any increases or monopolistic practices.
The ministry has earlier called on the public to exercise awareness and responsibility by adopting prudent consumption habits, purchasing according to need and disregarding rumours, reiterating that retail outlets are well stocked in abundant quantities with no need for excessive buying or home stockpiling.
Residents can report concerns about prices or product availability through the ministry's toll-free number: 8001222.
