Algeria Launches EU-Backed Agritech Incubator & Accelerator Programme
A new programme will support start-ups developing agricultural technology solutions.
Algeria’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-enterprises has launched an incubation and acceleration programme dedicated to agritech start-ups, opening a new support track for founders working in agricultural innovation.
The initiative was announced in a statement shared by the European Union Delegation to Algeria. It forms part of the Development of Digital and Green Entrepreneurship project under the InnovAgro component, within the broader Development of Digital and Green Entrepreneurship programme. The scheme is overseen by the ministry, co-financed by Germany and the European Union, and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
Selected start-ups were drawn from the Agripreneurs Challenge, part of the Algerian Agripreneurs cycle launched in 2025. Participating ventures are developing solutions that incorporate internet of things applications, artificial intelligence and drone technology aimed at modernising farm operations.
The programme is positioned to help entrepreneurs convert research and early-stage ideas into practical tools for the agricultural sector, particularly in areas such as land management, water optimisation and crop monitoring. Precision agriculture methods using drones and satellite data to assess soil moisture and crop health are among the technologies highlighted.
