Tourist Arrivals in Egypt Increase 21% to 15 Million in 2025

Tourist arrivals in Egypt recorded a 21% increase during the first nine months of 2025, reaching 15 million visitors, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The figure places the country on track to meet its annual target of between 17.5 and 18 million tourists.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy reported that arrivals reached 8.7 million during the first half of 2025, rising to 12.8 million by the end of August before crossing the 15-million mark in September.

Tourism remains one of Egypt’s leading sources of foreign exchange. In 2024, total arrivals reached a record 15.78 million, while tourism revenues increased by 9% to USD 15.3 billion, according to data from the Central Bank of Egypt.

The sector’s performance continues to be supported by growing international interest and upcoming milestones such as the anticipated opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum. Spanning 120 acres near the Giza Pyramids, the museum will exhibit around 100,000 artefacts, including the complete collection from King Tutankhamun’s tomb.

Officials estimate that daily visitor numbers could triple from current averages of 5,000–6,000 once the site opens.
