New Protocol Aims to Improve Quality of Life for Egyptian Families

A cooperation protocol has been signed between Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population and Ministry of Local Development to support implementation of the National Population and Development Strategy 2030 and the urgent population and development plan.

The framework focuses on improving the balance between population growth and economic development while working to enhance the quality of life for Egyptian families through coordinated action across national and local levels.

Efforts under the protocol will prioritise improving public services and reducing disparities within and between governorates. Work will also support national objectives to reduce the fertility rate to 2.1 children per woman by 2027.

The agreement includes training programmes for governorate-level staff on population issues and implementation steps based on an approved procedural guide, helping local administrations apply the strategy at the regional level.

Joint working teams composed of specialists and experts will also be formed to provide advisory, scientific, technical and research support. Shared training programmes are planned to strengthen the capacity of population teams and local leadership.

Research will also be conducted to address societal gaps linked to population indicators, with the aim of supporting evidence-based planning and implementation.
