This Free Workshop Trains Teachers on Child Abuse Response in Egypt

Child protection nonprofit Safe Egypt has launched ‘Safe First Aid’, a free training program aimed at equipping teachers, social workers, and psychologists with the tools to address cases of child sexual harassment and assault.

Grounded in the core message “Listen – Believe – Help,” the program empowers participants to recognise signs of abuse, offer trauma-sensitive psychological first aid, and follow appropriate reporting protocols that prioritise child safety.

The initiative focuses on three key areas. It trains participants to identify behavioural and physical indicators of sexual abuse in children. It also provides guidance on how to offer immediate emotional support to survivors while maintaining trust and confidentiality. The program outlines clear procedures for reporting incidents through legal and institutional channels in a way that safeguards the child throughout the process.

Open to all professionals working with children, the program aims to create safer environments by closing critical gaps in how abuse is identified and addressed.

The workshop will be held on Zoom on Saturday, May 3rd at 7:30 PM, the link of the workshop can be found on Safe Egypt’s official channels.

The launch of the workshop follows a criminal court ruling on April 30, in which an 80-year-old school employee was sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting six-year-old student Yassin at a private school in Beheira Governorate. In response to the verdict, the Ministry of Education has formed a committee to initiate the dismissal of the school’s director.
