World Premiere of Meen Yesadak Set for Paris by Kalam Aflam
Kalam Aflam wraps up its 3al Shatt ciné-club with the Paris world premiere of Zena Abdelbaky’s Meen Yesadak, a film created with a majority under-30 crew and shown abroad for the first time.

Paris-based Arab art collective Kalam Aflam will close its summer ciné-club series 3al Shatt with the international premiere of Meen Yesadak on September 4th. Directed by rising Egyptian filmmaker Zena Abdelbaky, the feature will be screened abroad for the first time after debuting earlier this year on Cairo’s independent film circuit. Abdelbaky will attend the screening to present the film and discuss its development process, which brought together a majority under-30 team behind the camera. The film follows Nadine, a young woman whose whirlwind romance with Basem unravels when she discovers the truth behind his lies. It stars the director’s father, celebrated comedian Ashraf Abdelbaky, alongside Jayda Mansour and Youssef Mohamed. Launched to connect cinematic voices across the Maghreb, Mashreq, and Europe, the 3al Shatt program has staged four summer screenings, each exploring themes of memory, migration, and belonging. Meen Yesadak now caps the series, continuing Kalam Aflam’s mission to spotlight Arab films in dialogue with global audiences. Tickets start at €5 and are available via the official event link.
