Rare 83-Minute Lunar Eclipse Will Appear Over Saudi on September 7th
The event is safe to observe with the naked eye and will also be visible across Asia, Africa, and parts of Australia and Europe.

A rare astronomical event will unfold across Saudi Arabia on September 7th as the Kingdom witnesses a total lunar eclipse lasting 83 minutes. The phenomenon will begin with a partial eclipse at 7:27 PM Saudi time, reach totality from 8:30 PM to 9:53 PM, and end at 11:57 PM.
According to the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, the eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the sun and the moon, casting its shadow over the lunar surface. The event is safe to observe with the naked eye and will also be visible across Asia, Africa, and parts of Australia and Europe.
Total lunar eclipses of this duration are relatively rare, with comparable events separated by several years. Saudi observatories will be monitoring the phenomenon as part of the country’s broader efforts to support regional astronomical research.
