Sharjah Government Staff to Receive Basic Training in Sign Language
The sessions included key vocabulary and practical guidance on interacting respectfully and appropriately with people who have hearing disabilities.

A two-level sign language training programme has been launched in Sharjah to enhance service accessibility for people with hearing disabilities. Organised by the Sharjah Human Resources Department (SHRD), the initiative targeted frontline government employees and customer service staff, aiming to equip them with the skills necessary to communicate more effectively with individuals who are hearing-impaired.
Held at the Regional Centre for Educational Planning (UNESCO), the training introduced participants to the basics and rules of sign language. The sessions included key vocabulary and practical guidance on interacting respectfully and appropriately with people who have hearing disabilities.
The programme is part of a broader effort to promote the use of sign language across government agencies and to establish a more integrated service environment that caters to the diverse needs of the community.
