Saudi Arabia Media Industry Updates Taking Shape in 2026

In Saudi Arabia’s fifth Media Forum, international media experts gathered in discussion of how the industry is adapting to technological, cultural, and political change. The result is a comprehensive set of updates put in place with the goal of upscaling media across the Kingdom. Ten years after the launch of Vision 2030, the new updates are set to shift the vision beyond what was expected a decade ago.

Among the 12 initiatives unveiled were the Media Innovation Camp and the Virtual Broadcaster Program, both aimed at supporting creative projects and helping media entrepreneurs develop sustainable business models.

Al-Dossary also introduced a framework setting out ethical guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence in media. Developed with the Saudi Data & Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the document addresses issues such as transparency, accountability, and responsible use of AI tools in content production.

The minister announced plans to produce more than 30 documentaries and films in 2026 under the “Treasures” initiative, a program focused on Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage alongside its future ambitions.

In addition, over 100 new placements have been assigned this year through the Media Scholarship program, which allows Saudi media professionals to study and train at top international universities and institutions.

The forum also saw the launch of a new translation track for “Saudipedia”, which will make content available in five languages: English, French, Chinese, Russian, and German. The platform’s goal is to make information about Saudi Arabia’s history, culture, and identity easily accessible to a global audience.

Al-Dossary further announced that more than 2,000 content creators and influencers from 90 countries are expected to attend the second edition of the “Impact Makers” forum, scheduled to take place in Qiddiya.
