SO. by Sora’s Live Experience in Riyadh Challenges Disposable Fashion
Founded by Princess Sora bint Saud Al Saud, the brand’s focus on ‘quiet fashion’ was at the heart of a unique event in Riyadh.
While contemporary fashion is often defined by the ‘latest’, this week, a special event in Riyadh made a case for the ‘everlasting’. At the SO. by Sora boutique in Saad Square, the brand hosted a unique gathering that moved well beyond a typical retail showcase to create conversations around pre-loved luxury between creatives, designers and artists. Founded by Her Highness Princess Sora bint Saud bin Saad Al Saud, the brand used the event, titled ‘A Live Artistic Fashion Experience’, to focus on the idea that a luxury piece doesn't lose its value when it changes hands - it gains a history.
The boutique was transformed into a space of live artistic moments where guests interacted directly with archival pieces, reinterpreting and reimagining them to highlight the brand’s core mission of ‘quiet luxury’ - the belief that real quality lies in the dialogue and relationship that develops between a garment and the person wearing it. It came as a visual rejection of the disposable culture that often dominates the fashion industry, proving that a well-crafted piece is a permanent investment rather than a fleeting trend.
This philosophy has been at the heart of SO. by Sora since its inception in 2018, when the boutique first opened its doors with a curated collection of nearly 500 archival items. The goal is to challenge how the region views pre-loved luxury, reframing it as a conscious choice for a new generation of Saudi tastemakers. That sense of responsibility is key to the DNA of the brand, which is demonstrated in its commitment to the Ahaya Foundation, in which the Princess is also heavily involved. The brand donates 2% of all proceeds to the foundation, connecting the act of preserving fashion with the act of supporting the community.
The evening came as part of a broader shift in how luxury is being redefined within the Kingdom, prioritising the life cycle of a garment - a philosophy that seeks to develop a sophisticated, intentional way of building a wardrobe that values longevity over trends.
