Gawdat Releases Latin-Inspired Tech House Groover ‘Baila’
The Egyptian sibling duo draw on a range of different influences for the latest release on their DanceIN' label.
Egyptian DJ/producer duo Gawdat return with a new bouncy single via their own label, DancIN’. Titled ‘Baila’, the track builds on the tech house sound they’re known for, threaded with Latin-leaning grooves that give it a looser, more playful edge.
Drawing inspiration from the golden era of R&B and hip-hop that they’ve grown up listening to, Gawdat has crafted a signature playful sound that is light, groove-laden and irresistibly danceable. Their discipline and thirst for constant improvement, coupled with their musical background, propelled them to become industry heavyweights in a short amount of time.
For nearly 16 years now, Gawdat’s music has played across the regional and global clubbing circuit, headlining sets at famed festivals from Caprice to Sunwaves and beyond, and sharing turntables with prominent global acts. First premiered at AYA Festival in Brazil last year, ‘Baila’ centres on a steady, funky bassline, layered with brass, trumpet, and piano arrangements, alongside sampled Spanish vocal chops. The track has already been played across dancefloors in cities like Miami, New York, Toronto, and Egypt ahead of its official release.
With ‘Baila’, the duo slightly extends their sonic range, introducing elements not often heard in the local electronic scene, continuing their ongoing push toward a more globally attuned sound.
