Public Prosecution Launches Child-Safe Interview Rooms Nationwide
The initiative includes a psychological guidance manual for prosecutors, with plans to roll out similar child-safe rooms across the country.
The Public Prosecution has inaugurated child-safe interview rooms across prosecution offices nationwide on April 15th, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen child protection within the justice system.
The launch took place at the Prosecutor-General’s office and was attended by senior officials and representatives from national institutions, including Maya Morsy, Amal Ammar and Sahar El-Sonbaty, alongside a representative from the National Council for Persons with Disabilities and UNICEF.
According to the presentation, the rooms are designed to provide a safe and psychologically supportive environment for children during investigations, enabling them to give testimony in conditions that ensure privacy and reduce the impact of traditional procedures.
The spaces are tailored to different age groups and psychological needs, and are equipped with monitoring systems linked to supervising prosecutors’ offices, allowing investigations to proceed while maintaining protective safeguards.
In parallel, the Public Prosecution introduced a psychological guidance manual for its members, outlining best practices for interacting with children during investigations to support professional conduct and improve the handling of cases involving minors.
