Thunderstorms Forecast Across Saudi Arabia Until Sunday
Heavy rain, strong winds and flash floods are expected in multiple regions.
The National Centre for Meteorology has forecast thunderstorms of varying intensity across most regions of Saudi Arabia until Sunday, warning of heavy rain, strong winds and flash floods.
According to the authority, conditions will include active downdrafts that raise dust and sand, hail in some areas, and high waves along coastal zones, with wind speeds expected to exceed 60 km/h in certain locations.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected across key regions including Riyadh, Qassim, Northern Borders Region and the Eastern Province.
Additional rainfall is also forecast in Al Baha, Asir and Jazan over the same period.
Authorities said the combination of rain, wind and blowing dust could reduce visibility and lead to localised flooding in low-lying or vulnerable areas.
The National Centre for Meteorology advised the public to follow official updates through its platforms, including the Anwaa application, and to comply with safety guidance issued by relevant authorities.
Residents have been urged to exercise caution on roads and in coastal areas during periods of heavy rain, strong winds or reduced visibility.
