New AI-Powered Drone System to Monitor Green Spaces in Dubai
The 'Smart Municipality Eye' monitors 52 million square metres, spotting irrigation and pest issues and forecasting risks.
Dubai Municipality has launched the 'Smart Municipality Eye,' an aerial monitoring system that uses unmanned drones equipped with artificial intelligence to oversee more than 52 million square metres of green spaces across the emirate. The platform delivers real-time assessments of vegetation health, detects irrigation and pest issues, and predicts potential problems before they occur to optimise maintenance and resource allocation. In support of the initiative, Dubai Municipality signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Eanan Al Samma for Remote-Controlled Aircraft Manufacturing to develop and deploy drone technologies and advanced AI solutions for municipal, field, and inspection operations. Under the memorandum, both parties will exchange technical expertise, pilot operational models, and build applications that enhance municipal service delivery and support forward-looking urban planning.
