Automated Export System Launched at Ain Sokhna Port
The digital customs platform introduces a Unified Consignment Reference while reducing cargo clearance times for exporters.
The Egyptian Customs Authority has launched a fully automated export system at Ain Sokhna Port, separating export processes from import procedures to accelerate outbound shipments.
Under the new system, all exporters using the port are required to obtain a Unified Consignment Reference for export-bound shipments.
The platform replaces paper-based processes with a digital system that brings together all relevant inspection authorities, aiming to reduce approval times and limit delays linked to manual documentation.
Authorities are targeting a reduction in customs clearance times to 48 hours, down from the current average of eight days, with a longer-term goal of completing final clearance within hours.
The system also introduces faster access to export incentives, with immediate disbursement replacing previous processes that could take up to six months due to manual approvals and audits.
The rollout is part of the wider Nafeza system, which integrates customs procedures across Egypt and currently includes more than 57,900 companies, 445 shipping lines and around 2,900 customs clearance offices.
Plans are in place to expand the automated export system to 130 customs locations and connect it with 32 government entities, including the National Food Safety Authority Egypt and the General Organization for Export and Import Control.
Officials said no additional fees will be applied beyond existing Nafeza charges, with time-based incentives expected to support faster processing as Egypt works towards an export target of USD 145 billion by 2030.
