AED 9.5 Million Tourism Paths Unveiled in Souq Deira
The 1,784-metre routes link historic markets and landmarks, with shaded seating areas and restored façades for visitors.

Three new tourism paths to Souq Deira have opened in Dubai as part of a heritage project totaling AED 9.5 million. The routes stretch 1,784 metres through the Gold Souq, Spice Souq and Al Ahmadiya School corridor, opening access to restored historic landmarks and linking seven traditional markets that sell herbs, spices, utensils, perfume, carpets, and textiles.
Each path incorporates authentic materials such as sarooj, a clay-like plaster, while also introducing shaded wooden seating, and new paving and signage to guide visitors.
Set against the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the project provides easier access for visitors while supporting more than 500 shops. The upgrades by the Dubai Municipality aim to preserve the souq's character and increase tourism.
