145 New Farm Activities to Boost Agri-Tourism in Abu Dhabi
The new categories include 41 plant production activities, 12 industrial support activities, and nine plant production support services.

The scope of farm-based economic activities in Abu Dhabi has been expanded to a total of 145, following the addition of 74 new activities by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority. These cover 41 plant production activities, 12 industrial support activities, nine supporting plant production activities, eight food support services, two general support services, and two recreational activities.
The amendments also clarify that the built-up area used for economic activities must not exceed the size determined by the competent authority, and that farm owners or licensed establishments may only conduct activities in line with the farm’s designated purpose. The changes apply across the emirate and aim to standardise how farm activities are planned and operated.
The expansion is part of a broader strategy to turn farms into investment opportunities and destinations for recreation and heritage experiences, while strengthening food security and supporting the agri-tourism sector.
The changes are being coordinated with the Department of Economic Development, the Department of Municipalities and Transport, and the Department of Culture and Tourism to ensure regulation, licensing, and oversight align with Abu Dhabi’s sustainable development goals.
