Riham Abdel Ghafour to be Honoured at Luxor African Film Festival
The actress's career spans over two decades and a diverse array of roles that express the transformations of Egyptian society.
The Luxor African Film Festival has announced that Egyptian actress Riham Abdel Ghaffour will be honoured at the festival’s 15th edition, scheduled to take place from March 30th to April 6th, 2026.
Abdel Ghaffour’s career spans more than two decades across film and television, marked by a wide range of roles that the festival’s Supreme Committee said reflect social and cultural shifts within Egyptian society.
Her notable performances include 'Malaki Iskandariya' (2005), directed by Sandra Nashaat, as well as the Ramadan television series 'Zay El Shams' (2019), directed by Sameh Abdel Aziz.
The 2026 edition of the festival will also mark the centenary of the birth of influential Egyptian filmmaker Youssef Chahine, under the theme ‘Youssef Chahine… An Egyptian Story’. The festival will be chaired by actor and producer Mahmoud Hamida.
